The season of Lent always seems to sneak up on us much faster than expected! Here are the details you need to be aware of for this year's season of preparation leading up to Easter:
1. Lent officially begins on Ash Wednesday (18 February) and we have an evening service (18h30) on that day where we will be marked with ash crosses on our foreheads as a sign of repentance and our longing to return to God.
2. We also meet the night before that (Shrove Tuesday, 17 February at 6pm) to enjoy sweet and savoury pancakes together. It's a wonderful, friendly evening, the food is amazing and everyone is invited!
3. This year as a congregation we are being accompanied through Lent by the Desert Mothers and Fathers and will be drawing on some of their teaching in our Sunday services and in small groups (a great time to join a small group if you haven't already). Also, everyone is encouraged to install the excellent Lectio365 devotional app and follow along in the daily devotionals that accompany the course. The devotionals begin on Monday 16 February.
