"God created people in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." (Genesis 1:27)
We were reminded in our course this week that one of the fundamental truths about our identity is that we are image-bearers of God. Author Chris Hall used to insist on referring to every person he met as an image-bearer of God. That's a bit of a mouthful to keep saying repeatedly through the day, but using that language should wake us up to the reality of who we are and Whose we are. And it should change the way that we look at each person we meet each day.
James Bryan Smith likes to teach people to say "I am one in whom Christ dwells and delights. And I live in the strong and unshakeable kingdom of God". We were encouraged in this week's session to try saying that to ourselves in the mirror each morning when we brush our teeth. Give it a go - it may help us to remember the unchangeable truth that we are image-bearers of God.
