Years ago, an important part of a minister’s work was to systematically work their way through the membership list, visiting every member in the church. So, you never knew if one day you might get a surprise knock on your front door and find that your minister was in your lounge even before you had a chance to put your Bible on the coffee table, next to the framed portrait of John Wesley :) These days it seems you’re far less likely to hear that surprise knock on your door ...

In my experience, people are often reluctant to make contact with me, because the perception is that “the minister is very busy” and somehow what they would like to talk about doesn’t seem important enough. Which is simply not true. People are at the heart of pastoral ministry and the other tasks of the week need to fit in around that priority.

Also, there doesn’t need to be a crisis for us to meet – I would love to spend time just getting to know more of you. So, if you’d appreciate a visit, or a coffee together somewhere, or just a chance to chat in my office, please could you get in touch with Valda in the church office and she’ll set up a time for us to connect. Thank you!
